This study investigated the effects of extracorporeal shock-wave therapy (ESWT) on osteoarthritis (OA) in rabbits. The study found that ESWT significantly reduced the level of nitric oxide (NO) in the synovial cavity of knee joints and chondrocyte apoptosis, leading to decreased severity of cartilage lesions. This suggests that ESWT may be a useful treatment for knee OA. By slowing down the progression of OA, ESWT can help reduce joint pain and dysfunction, and prevent and slow cartilage degeneration. This study highlights the potential benefits of ESWT in treating knee osteoarthritis.
